I have a 1941 B and a 1944 M. I would like to put live hydraulics on one of these tractors. Could I put a pump in front of the distibutor and which tractors could I get this pump from? Will a Super C pump fit on a B?

You can put a live hydralic on the B. Run it from the crankshaft out the front of the tractor and mount a pump there. Be sure to get a pump that will handle the engine RPMs. I have a pump set up like this for a W-9, of course you need electric start because it will drive through the crank hole.

As for an M, I have seen belt and chain drives from the crankshaft. Take the pulley off and go to a machine shop and have them weld a pulley or sprocket on the front then mount your pump to the side of the engine. Another option for the M is to find an M&W live pump or change front covers and cam gear from Super M/MTA/400/450 and use the pump from them.

I want to ad hydraulics to my 1940 B. Please let me know if the pump off the drive worked for you. I would also want to put a small bucket in front.

No, a Super C pump will not fit on a B, unless the B's engine block has been replaced with a Super A or C block.
The only way I have seen to put hydraulics on a B is a PTO driven pump or outboard one on the side of the engine and drive it with a long belt on the fan/generator pulleys.
