My neighbor had one of these 7ft New Idea Cut/Ditioners that you are speaking of that he let me have. Before running it, I jumped on this forum, and found this subject. I was lead to believe that my Farmall M wasn't going to be enough to run it. I guess I didn't really believe that as he always ran it with a JD 70 for years, and my M always would run circles around his JD 70. Anyway, I took it out and cut 5 acres of relatively thick alfalfa pasture mix that had been sitting for a year so it was pretty grown up. The M didn't have a problem at all. I ran it in first gear, as if I went faster, it seemed to miss some grass and do a poor job of mowing. Last night, I decided to try it out behind my Oliver 77 RC. My M runs stronger than my Oliver so I figured that the old Oliver may have some troubles. The Oliver did just fine, and prooved to be the better tractor for running this piece of equipment with the live power and all. I would say that I need to find a new PTO shaft for teh cutditioner that runs down the tow tongue, as my whips out of center about 2-3 inches when running. Just my observations here guys, not trying to belittle anyone here, but my to little machines handle this 7ft cutditioner just fine. Jordan East Bethel, MN
