OK guys, I need to know about the generator wiring on a 1951 W-4. It has the original 6 volt generator (rebuilt). I need to know about the field wire, a schematic I got from this site, shows the field wire connected to a field resistor,I don't have a field resistor. Should there be one? Where do I hook this wire??? I'm trying to do a nice restoration and wanted to keep the stock 6 volt stuff.I can't find the message I posted a week and a half ago!!! Help please!!!! Thanks

Steve - If your W-4 has a 3-position (O-D-B) light switch, there is no separate "field resistor" - that function is taken care of by the voltage regulator. Wiring should be the same as for a Super H/M (punch below...)

Bob, Thanks but I forgot to mention that I have a cutout instead of a regulator and I also have distributor ignition, and three position switch. This is the way I received the tractor. It was pretty much pieces, only wires intact where the battery cables. This makes it hard for me. I appreciate your help, Thanks!!

Turn over the regulator and look on the bottom. The field resistor is the short length of tiny coiled wire. The field terminal connects to the field resistor.
