I have been waiting all day. It is here, I am getting a good rain right now. Don't know how long it will last, but am glad to get it.

Well, here in the gulf islands of British cColumbia we are not getting enough to do any good but enough every other day to make cutting hay impossible. A very cool, damp spring and early summer. Tractors are all ready to go but I do not dare cut with showers forcast for day after tomorrow.

Karl, I got all my hay up without loosing any this year. I did get a shower on 60 acres, but it was still green and didn't hurt it any. What hay hasn't been cut already here is burned slap up. None of mine is making any kind of second growth, but it will rain, I guess or hope.

I know what you fellas are going through. Here in East TN we hadn't had any rain to speak of since at least early to mid April. Everyone's first cutting was anywhere from half to two thirds normal. The corn had come up and the family had started irrigating last week or we were going to lose it all. Then on Wed we started getting some storms, some run off but some were slow enough to really help. As of this morning the we have had about 3.5 inches of rain and as of about 4:30 another 6/10 today. On top of that it started a steady shower about an hour ago and is still at it. We are very thankful. Just goes to show you how much we take for granted sometimes, or at least I do. Strange thing is some areas close to us have gotten half that. When they say widely scattered they are right.

I guess it is over with here, but we did get 6/10 of an inch. Some run off, but it beat nothing. Nothing is what I got on the other place and 1/10 at dads. It is alway's a desert at his place. Now they say no more for a while and back to 90 after tomorrow.

From 6 - 09 to 6 - 13 we got 1" , but like you, it came so quick the road ditches couldn't hardly catch it, let alone the crops and the pastures ! Before that, we haven't had any rain worth looking in the rain gauge at since the 2nd week of April. This mid ohio valley is so funny when it comes to storms, they either stay right on I70 eastbound and bypass us or they come up the ohio river and split around us, or they set on top of us and try to wash us off of the face of the earth! It's not common to get a nice steady ground soaking rain, but sometimes it happens. Right now is one of those exceptions, since the hard storms 2 1/2 hours ago, it's been a nice steady ground soaker since and is expected to do so till around midnight. I hope that you are getting what we are down your way, and by the looks of the weather map the chances are pretty good!

Here in the Marietta area we just got some pretty strong storms with light rain lingering around, and boy did we need it! The corn was rolling up and the 2nd cutting alfalfa was looking pretty pathetic. I was driving some tomato stakes this morning and I thought that I was trying to drive them in the twp. road, I don't think that I've seen the ground sooooo oo hard.

It was getting darn dry here too. We got 2 inches about 2 weeks ago, but it came in less than an hour and most ran off. Corn is curled up here as well and the pature is burned to a crisp. I will have to start feeding soon if this rain doesn't hold out. Weather man say's today is it, then back to 90+ weather. I am 40 miles east of Lexington, Ky.
