I have a very hard time getting the clutch to engage on my os6. I have to push the hand lever very hard.Once it,s engaged it seems to be okay.Is this normal?Tractor has only run about two hours in the three years.Maybe if I use it more often,it might help.(Any ideas?)Thank,s Don.

I'm not familiar with the OS6, however I own a hand-clutched Minnie Mo "U" - it probably uses the same clutch as OS6. And from your description it sounds like the clutch needs adjusting.

What's needed is to set the cluch mechanism so the hand lever "snaps crisply" over center. Too loose and it won't snap and the clutch will slip; too tight and the lever is difficult to snap and/or the clutch will not disengage.

----

Here's how the MM book says to adjust the hand clutch:

Remove the inspection cover and find the adjustment ring lock pin (you may need to turn the crankshaft to bring the pin into view). Pull the pin out as far as it will go to unluck the adjusting ring. With the clutch disengaged, use a long screw driver to turn the adjusting ring. Turn the ring one notch at a time, testing the clutch lever action after each notch. When you get it so the clutch handle feels right, push the lock pin back in to secure the adjusting ring.
