I got good response and info on how to remove the pto and belt pulley from my super C, thanks guys! When I remove the pto I guess I have to drain down some of the transmission oil, right? Or could I just jack up the rear of the tractor and let the oil run to the front! Also how about using blue silicon for a gasket?

You will lose less than a gallon of oil when you take the pto off. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the pto housing. For a couple of dollars you can buy the correct gaskets from Case/IH and you know that they will fit.

As far as the gasket I would reccomend using a gasket and putting a lineof silicone around it on both sides to hold it in place when you are putting it together as well as sealing it up.

Up where I am going to school our instuctor who worked for IH and Allis said that from his expierience the only places silicone should be applied are the oil pan gasket and the PTO/transmissions gaskets. He also said it always works better to use the silicone with the gasket in these areas. Not just the silicone by itself. And judging from what we used it on up at school, he was right.

J.J. a little grease on each side of the gasket will hold it in place and make it seal good too.

Wayne, you might be able to jack it up and save most of it. As for the blue stuff that is up to you, myself I do not use it on anything, but have seen lots of folks use it for all types of gaskets. Those gaskets are available from IH.

I wouldn't use the blue. I'd use the grey adhesive stuff. It comes in a squeeze tube as well as a big tube like the ones used for bathroom caulking. In fact you can use the same gun too.

Most current vehicles today use this stuff throughout (except for head gaskets of course) and while I'm sorta old school and prefer traditional gaskets I have come to appreciate this stuff because it really does indeed make a fine gasket. Great solution for hard or impossible to find gaskets.

You can also buy sheet gasket material too but you'll have to cut it out. It's kind of wastefull to use it if you need only one gasket though. The tube stuff is really your best bet.
