Hello. I have a 1947 Farmall B. There is a casting number on the engine: 12-26-F. What does this mean. Also this tractor has radiator shutter and is a gas burner. Is this unusual? THANKS FOR YOU HELP

"F" came back around in 1960. If a replacement block was installed in 1960, it would probably be a Super C block that has a place for a hydraulic pump.

The "F" may be a "P", meaning the part was cast on Dec 26, 1946, which would be common on an early 47 model. Shutters were an option, but were usually only on kerosene or distillate models. If the carb is original and unmodified, it will have an adjustable main jet, the gas carbs don't. Also the gas starting tanks have usually been removed, and the hood could be a replacement.

According to Guy Fay's Tractor Data Book the letter F is for the year 1936. The letter for 1947 is Q. Tom
