Put the wire in one end and out the other that way the spring will be solid. No movement at all!! Will really wind up!!

I don't think you could use a 504 governor, but you can get a M&W governor for about $450 on eBay, or you can buy hi power parts for your original governor.

Dumb question but how many coils of the springs do you wrap any other hints on what to do with the governor other than adjust the machine bolt stop?

The H motor has nothing the same as the 504.What are you doing with the H If you are just playing with it take the governor cover off and put a heavy piece of wire threw the spring. Then hold on she will wined up then!!!!! Pretty much eliminates the governor. This technique will get alot of do's and don't's "I'll betcha"

I don't think the 504 and the H engines have anything in common -- but I have never seen a 504. Just rebuild your H governor.
