Anybody use Lucas Oil Stabilizer in their tractor engines? I was thinking about adding some in when I change it. It blows some blue smoke when you first fire it up and a little after, then it goes away when she's warm or under load. Thinking a little extra coating might be a good idea, especially since it sits for a few weeks at a time. Any advice?

That puff of blue at start up and a few seconds later is from worn valve guides. There is NO oil additives that will cure it. The only solution is to replace the valve guides, or just live with it. Most of us choose to live with it.

scott, ihave seen it used and the results i didnt like. thats all ill say about it.it was used in heavy equipment diesel engines.
maybe someone else has used it and liked it.

what i did use was low ash IH oil. it seemed to reduce the oil burning problem quite a bit.

I have used Lucas oil stabilizer for several years in my M and it seams to not use as much oil as before. I also use it in the gear box. Has quieted them down some. Every one here in this area swears by it. Some buy it by the gallon. It won't hurt to try it in any way. I use 2 quarts in the crankcase.
