How does a 16.9x34 tire compare to a 15.5x38? Does it make the tractor sit much lower? I have a friend with a 656 farmall with 15.5x38's, he wants a wider tire without making the tractor sit any lower or higher, so 16.9x38's are out of the question for him even though i think there a nice tire for 656. Anyone know if they made cast 34 inch wheels that fit a 656 axel, every 656 i see has 38 inch wheels, cast or pressed steel.

There's a test out there (sorry, I don't have a link to it) that showed the 34s actually had a little more drawbar pull than 38s because of the reduction in overall gearing. I found it on the web, but don't recall exactly where... so I invite you to Google! As I recall, it was from a university website. If I had to guess, it'd be Ohio State or Purdue. My 826 has 34s but I've never run 38s on it for comparison.

Of the two cabbed tractors, one is on 16.9 X 34 and the other has 15.5 X 38 I doubt there is a nickel's worth of difference in the diameter of the two sizes. Now the open tractor on the left has 16.9 X 38 Those are BIGGER

Yeah, and 34's also give you the ability to brag about pulling some huge tillage implement at some unreal speed... Until you realize that the tachometer is calibrated for 38" rubber.

Mine has 16.9 X 34 with pressed steel wheels. Yeah, I like it.
