Hi guys- have a magneto on my 1945 M.Hooked hot wire up to the magneto and the wire gets really hot.Have a short?Took it apart and did not see any wire shorting out?Ideas THANKS

I imagine that you probably just cooked the coil.

A magneto does not need a hot wire. It makes its own power.

The wire going to the magneto is to ground it out to kill the engine.
