560 D rear wheel problem

What should the rear wheel be tourqued to?

about two years ago the rear wheel center busted. I have replaced the wheel center with a used one. put it back together with drade 8 bolts but i cant keep it tight is there something i am doing wrong ?

400-450 ft.-lbs. Tighten the four bolts as evenly as possible. Drive tractor and recheck. Check them every few hours of operation for the first week.

Breaker bar with a pipe on the end. You can't get those too tight. Are you sure you have the right clamp? Somewhere along the line, perhaps with the 450, IH changed from two small keyways in the axle to one large. If you are putting the old, small key clamp into a single keyway axle, that is your problem. Otherwise, unless the key is worn, just get it as tight as you can -- don't worry about breaking the bolts.

we haven't broken the bolts yet its just been the lock clamps on the wheel (i don't know what they ar called) when i tighten them they crack and break. I'm going to look for new clamps tommorow.

I have never seen or heard of that problem -- it sounds like you have the wrong clamp.
