Can anyone tell me if there is a secret to removing the bottom cover on the touch control box on my 49 cub. I need to replace the gasket but can't get the cover to budge.

Just did the one on my dad's '51 Cub. That plate is really stuck on there good. Don't know if the factory used some sort of sealer on the gasket or whether is was all those years causing it to be bonded so well . I had to take a chisel with a sharp edge and wedge between the plate and housing, tapping it in a little ways in numerous locations and it finally came apart. Be careful and drive in the chisel where is does not cut into the metal on either side. Go slow!

Rigid paint scraper and small hammer. Go slow, to avoid gouging the surfaces the gasket goes between. Be sure there are no burrs, etc on the scraper.

Thank You very much. Did you have any problem finding the gasket or did you make your own?

Bought it from Case IH. Not too pricey!
