Any reason why this won't work???

I dropped the Liftall out of my M and found the hydraulic fluid is leaking from a U-shaped crack about half way down the high-pressure passageway in the pump's backplate that feeds the left rear (delayed) outlet. I never use that outlet. Is there any reason why I can't mix up a big batch of JB Weld and completely fill and plug that passageway to keep the pressure and fluid from reaching the crack, as long as I'm careful to keep the JB Weld only in that passageway and no where else?

If that won't work, is there any place to order just the backplate of the pump without buying a whole new pump?

After reading through the archives here I'm not surprised it cracked, as I've been using a two-way cylinder with a solid plug at the off end instead of a vented plug for twenty years. I'm installing a vented plug now, but shouldn't the relief valve inside the pump have provided protection against building up enough pressure to crack the backplate casting? I'm not complaining, just wondering. My M is 9 years older than me and it's holding up better than I am! :-)

Thanks,

Mitch
