Need help and ideas.I have an older Farmall/IH 656 that has alot of sway in the lift arms. I just got a disk mower and when mounted and mowing it moves around too much. I am worried that it will put undo strain on the PTO system.

Thanks

Look for a couple of holes (maby 1/2in. or 5/8in. dia.) that need to have pins in them. With the pins in them when you move one hitch bar the other hitch bar moves also. When hooked to an implement they become rigid. Armand

Isn't there a 'Z' shaped solid adjustable bar that bolts to each of the 2 lower arms? Mine have that bar and it prevents sway side to side.

Thanks, there is a sliding/adjustable link between the lift arm and the cast base attached to the tractor. Those are heavily worn with lots of slop. Even in good condition I don't see how those would limit sway

Those sway links have holes to drop a bolt through that'l make the hitch rigid.

Solid bars can be made which locate the hitch dead center, vertically and horizontally. They would not be used when using the 3PT for any other purpose. There are restraints (supposed to be) for some sway control. The best is a draw bar attached to the tractor that eliminates the use of the 3PT for pull type implements. Some did not have that. most new tractors now do. JimN

Thanks, I do have restraints mounted to the lift arms and the tractor itself. Those are very worn and I can't see how they could limit sway. The mower I got is a 3 point mount.
