Okay awhile back I asked about my 560 slobbering oil out of the exhaust at idle...well I think it is dong it as it second job more than just at idle....say after 1 hour on a 10" auger oil is down the sides of the hood. Then today we had a tractor ride then pull ended up with a rag around the bottom of the muffler to keep oil off everything and it is blowing a little whiser of white smoke and alot at the pull and did LOUSY... and suggestions this is my first 282 not used to antique deisels not sure even where to start THANKS!

First thing to check is the fuel shut-off cable. If the clamp has slipped a little, it'l starve for enough fuel and engine speed and engine will be sick for power and you'll have slobber at exhaust.

Yep,

Sounds like she has been subjected to one too many tractor pulls already.

not sure about a 282 diesel, but my cummins was smoking white smoke and this a sign of bad or stuck injector, the injector was actually dirty from all this new fuel, which seemed to clean out the fuel tanks and plug filters.

Retarded injection pump timing could cause slobber... but it should also start somewhat hard as well.

A compression test would be the best indicator of the condition of the engine at this point... maybe take the injectors in and have them tested as well.

Is your crankcase oil level dropping? If it is the oil is going past the rings and not being completely burned. Only fix is complete overhaul. On the other hand if you oil is not disappearing I would look at your injectors and pump. Bad injectors will dump extra fuel in causing it to slobber and have low power. Also check your injector pump timeing.
