Old gal slid right out and only took about 40 minutes. Helps to move the old rascals once in awhile. :>)

Learned something new this morning tho. The center tube on this 1066 is 6" narrower than the one on my 966. What's up with that?

A quick look at the parts book shows two different center tubes. One for tractors with 52"-76" tread, and one for tractors with 58"-82" tread.

KB: Are you sure that is all? The reason I question your figures is my 1066 came from dealer new set at 72". I widened it to 84" and had one tube completely out, my guess is I could have quite easily gone to 96"

We had to put a small bead on the tubes of our 1256 to get them to stop moving! Front end loader is one quick way to beat up a front axle...

I'm guessing the narrower tube is for narrower row spacings? Looks like that is still the steel tube and not the cast like our 1086.

No,

It's cast. Identical to the 966, just 6 inches shorter.

Allan: Center tube does look narrow, what is the wheel tread and how many holes are exposed? If I remember correctly my 1066 had 4 holes exposed at 84" wheel tread. Bear in mind, I'm not 100% certain, prpbably 98% though.

higgins: It may have been beancounter effect, however I know I had that tractor on 84" tread, and I sat in that cab enough hours to know there was at least 4 holes exposed on that axle, it may have been 5, but definitely not 3 or less. It's been close to 20 years, thus that is as close as I will call it.
