I PICKED THIS 300 UP AND IT HAS 2 SMALL HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF the TA housing toward the rear well maybe you can say there toward the sides of the housings and they spew oil out all over when she gets warm. I remember asking about this along time ago when the other guy owned it but I have it now and wondered what I need to fix. So let me know if you have any idea's? MagMan

Ya talken about the T/A clutch drain hole on the bottom ?? will if it is drippen oil out of it the carrier seal is out . This is a problem that ya see alot when someone did not know just how to install a T/A properly , two things happen here (1) the seal was installed backwards ( 2) the seal was ROLLED when the carrier was installed as this seal has the lip facing inward to be installed correctly and must jump over the square carrier lip . There WAS a special seal tool that is suppose to be used when installing the carrier but if one is realy super careful and has a dental pick along with some super slipery grease ya can ease it is or one can use some .003 shim stock and make a tappered cone deal to aid in the instulation. Anyway ya look at it it will require a double split and tear down to fix i would rate this at a two twelve pac job.

I can not seem to find the pics on my PC maybe I will get some new ones and post them so you can see what I am talking about. I replaced the overrunning clutch and sun gear about 15 years ago. My first one. So I may have done it wrong I can not remember that far back. I sold the tractor to a relitive and it started leaking when he had it now I just bought it back cheap. JON

Hey Vet,

Dumb question, but do I adjust that dump valve with the TA stick forward or back. Or, does it matter?

Don't wanna mess it up.

Allan

Haven't even gone out to the farm yet. Still doin' chores here that I gotta get out of the way first.

Thanks for the advice. Read your post about a dozen times and it sure seems to be just a plain straight ahead "good sense" way of doing it and really makes for an easy approach.

Wonder why the darned book doesn't do it that way. :>)

I had that slave cylinder overhauled when the tractor was in the shop. Have always doubted if it was ever adjusted as it should be because the clutch has always had a "double leap" when taking off from a stop.

If it is DOUBLE SHIFTEN then the dump valve is out of adjustment . Some guys think that they are BINDER meck - a- nicks , i know my Farmalls and can work on others but realy don't know much about the others . I know my older Fords and Mo Pars but don't know the OFF brands.

Okay Thanks,

Headin' out to the county now and will let you know how this all turns out.

Don't want to jepordize that new clutch by "just letting it go". :>)
