On my 1066.

Tractor never did "seem right" to me. Always seemed weak in the knees for some reason. Just didn't "feel" like a 1066 ought to, to my way of thinkin'.

Hugh said he ran his at 150 horse, Gary, Vet and many others said to go ahead and "turn 'er up".

So, while I was in there anyways, I cranked it a turn and a half on the fuel screw and pulled that torque rise screw back out about three or four turns.

Today, I finally got it hooked to the plow and made a round in the old alfalfa field. Way too dry to be plowin; you know how aflafa saps the ground moisture and makes it almost impossible to pull a plow.

But, does that old heifer ever snort now! Thought the silly thing was gonna twist the axles off! :>)

Thanks Guys,

Allan

Allan: The old girl will probably drink a wee bit heavier also. I'm sure you've heard me warn that as well.

Yeah,

I've been watchin' that. Ran it across 20 acres of summer fallow with the field cultivator sunk up to the gonads. Didn't seem to do too awfully bad.

Here's the weird part. I've never liked those radial tires. Just couldn't get 'em to "bite". Also, they "bounced" like crazy going down the road.

Okay, last winter I upped the pressure to 22lbs to get rid of that "bounce". Now, they seem to pull just fine in the field. Still should have had the duals on tho. :>(

I ought to paint that old tractor. Now that I've got 'er to pulling right and the air conditioner fixed, it's a pretty good old beast. :>)
