Like the Vet said, it's the cheap version. IH built 856 Custom to compete with the John Deere 4000, which was just a stripped down 4020. The 856 Custom proved to be a good seller, so they brought out the 756 Custom. There aren't too many 756 Customs around here so I can't tell you the exact differences other than what the Vet mentioned, but I do know that the 856 Customs also had regular clamp type rear wheels while the regular 856 came standard with the wegde-locks. Every 856 Custom that I've seen had 16.9x38 rear rubber, while most regular 856's around here have 18.4x38's. The 856 Custom had a smaller air filter canister with a single filter element. Both Custom models did not have battery covers.

The CUSTOM model was the CHEAP versionas it came from the factory with only one remote valve and one head lite on both sides and a few other things that were not the same as the reg. 756 .

I think custom means that it had some special options like the hydraulic seat or an extra remote or something along those lines.
