i am looking for a 300 or a 350 engine to stuff in my 44 h that blew a rod or cracked a piston. it would be a good sleeper in a pull. this is just an idea now but im defently gonna make a puller out of her but i want it to look stock. i know that i might need some diffrent parts to allow it to mate to the tranny. it already has nice wide tires that really make her grip! she would pop wheelies in 2nd with the "X1" engine, and a heavy arts way mower under her too! i wonder what it would do with a 300 or 350 turned up! (the mower is going on my 43 H and so is the 8043 head) I might have a C152 block for sale if there is no damage to it. I would be willing to sell everything except the head. right now it is knocking but i shut it off right away and was at 800 rpm or so when it "poped". so it wasent running fast when it went.

i havent got a chance to take her apart yet. I think the idea of fixing my H up to 300 or 350 specs is a good idea too. I relly just want a Good puller but your right if any one looks at the code they will know. I was just talking from what the people who havent seen it up close would think of a H pulling real hard. I dont know what im gonna do yet as I also have a MD that need work too. I can do the gasser my self but the diesel is another story. I think I got a real good i.h. guy that might be willing to help/do it for me. he is really good from what my dad says and the word around here is he is the best. But as far as the 44 H goes.. she has a good quiet rear end in her and all the gears hold great! I might start pricing out 300 and 350 kits and talk to my cousin as he know a great machine shop and my cousin is into making home made off road trucks that really kick some GAS! Thanks for the ideas, if i rebuil my engine i wont have to worry about it fitting my tranny.

No special parts needed to mate a 300 (C169) or 350 (C175) engine to an H. The blocks are the same, just bored out bigger.

Nobody in the know will be fooled, as they will be checking the casting where C169 or C175 will clearly be shown. Grind it off and they'll KNOW you're a-cheatin'. A real sleeper would be to bore out the C152 block and install C175 sleeves, C175 step-head pistons, 350 cam, 350 crank, 350 head.

Anything you buy will probably be shot, so it might be better to just rebuild the engine you've got. You sure it's not a bad rod bearing or something like that?

Plus the cast codes will give it away with Z, A, B, C,will be seen. Also on the later 300, and 350 they have a dip, and not petcocks.
