McCormick Deering Hammermill

I have a McCormick-Deering hammermill that has not been used in approx. 50 years or more. All of this time it has been stored indoors so it is in good shape, the "flywheel"? spings freely and all screens are with it. This is a belt driven hammermill. Other than the McCormick-Deering name on it and a manufactured by International Harvester emblem, I can find no markings. It does set in a dark corner of the toolshed so a closer inspection with a flashlight is in order.

This is an item I would like to sell since I am now retired. Does anyone have either an educated guess as to the value or can someone steer me in a direction to find more info about it or even give me an idea on where to advertize this item? I would appreciate any help out there.

A guy down the road from me has been looking for a burr or hammer mill. He is in Indiana. I will let him know if I see him. He has a silo full of old seed corn that is no good and wants to make alchol fuel out of it. My burr mill was built in 1888 and not I am crazy about letting him use it for that much corn.

I had a 10 inch Case belt drive that I sold for$100. I was glad to get it out of my way. It was in good shape too.

Most likely, it is a No. 6. If the cyclone is with it, the designation should be stenciled (or maybe it was decals) on it. I'm not aware that these things had a nameplate. I have a No. 5 hammermill that is waiting on me to restore. If the cyclone is good on yours, I would be interested in it. I'm afraid they are not worth much. I paid $100 for the one I have. It had set outside for awhile and there is some rust on the cyclone and the duct that goes from the bottom up to the blower. Otherwise it is in good shape. If yours is in real good shape, with no rust holes in the ducts, etc., I suppose it would be worth a little more. I'll post a picture of mine in the gallery so you can see if yours is similar.

To East Tenn. I am in Northern Michigan. The cyclone is in good shape, surface rust but not deep - no holes. I will look more closely for a number. The McCormick-Deering name is painted on. The Int.Harvest Co. emblem is not an attached nameplate but rather it seems to be also painted on. Thanks for the info.

Any chance you are going to the Red Power Round up in Pennsylvania in two weeks. Maybe we could work a deal if you could bring it there. If so, could you send me a picture??

Won't be in Penn. I live in Northern Michigan so selling the mill to anyone at any distance would cost more for gas than the thing is worth! I do appreciate your advice and interest. I think my description was not very accurate. There was originally markings on the cyclone but the paint is too pealed to be readable. 2200-2800 rpm is stencled on the side and the Int. Harvester Co. emblem actually appears to be a sticker of some sort.

Ok, thanks for the info. Yes, gas or shipping would prohibit bringing it to East Tenn (or going to Michigan) unless you were going that way anyhow.

Here is the pic of my mill. Forgot to ask where you are located. I'm in Eastern Tennessee.
