It sure seemed like motor oil more than unburnt fuel am going to hook it on to the haybine for 10 acres see if I can heat it up tommorrow a bit...Any tips or advice on this old diesel would be appreciated we havent had one since 1969 on the place which was 7 years before my time...Thanks

As the others have said if diesel go out and work the $%^& out of it and most likely it will stop doing that. Diesels don't like to be used with out working hard and any of them will slobber like that if not worked out real good

I'm assuming it's a diesel... Many diesels will slobber if run at idle or only slightly above with no load. They just don't warm up enough to get a complete burn of the diesel fuel.

Hook it up to something and give it a good pull for an hour or so and it will probably clear up.

Is this a gas or diesel. If it is a diesel they usually don't like idleing for that long of a time. It will not burn all of the fuel and it will slobber all over itself. Even a gas motor may not like idleing for this long, especially if the carburator is running a little rich. In either case the engine probably isn't going to get up to full operating temperature. Running it on a fast idle will help some. A good workout is what it is wanting/needing.
