How and where do I fill the hydraulic fluid on a Farmall 560 six cylinder gas and why does the system whine when in use. Gould it be low on fluid and if so how do I check that.

To change hyd.filter on 560 you do not have to change all the hyd. oil unless you want to. When you take the filter cover off about 1/2 gal. (if that) will be lost so you will need to catch that.

The fill hole is the on top of the transmission deck just to the right of the gear shift. Remove the three bolts on that plate and add the fluid through that hole. The 560 takes 15 gallans. There's a plug on the left side of the transmission housing on the right side just below and in front of the cluch pedel to check for proper fuid level. If you drain the fluid, there are three different plugs to drain from but I'd make sure I only did one plug at a time and replaced that plug before I went to the next plug or it will come out so fast that you will make a mess. I speak from experience on that one.

There should be a plug on the top of the transmission housing, at least that's where it is on the 460. Unless you have a serious problem, replacing the filter will stop most of the whine. It is behind a plate at the lower right side of the transmission. You have to drain the system first. Not a bad idea because it is probably half water due to lack of maintenance. Use HyTran or a fluid that meets HyTran specs. There is some controversy whether it must be CaseIH, but on that old tractor, I doubt if it makes any difference as long as it meets the specs. Someone else can give you the capacity, I don't have that handy.
