Thinking about converting to p.s. on my 46 M NF, have live hydraulics already, looking for pointers. I am an auto mechanic, tools and equipment are not a problem. I understand hydraulics but not an expert and I do not want to re-invent the wheel. Very new (8 months)to the tractor world, own 2 Ms now, also have a 42 NF. Love these machines. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, CG.

I'd recommend a Char-Lynn power steering. I know IH used the Behlen units when they started offering PS from the factory, but the Behlen is bulky and you may have to butcher the hood to fit it. By comparison, the Char-Lynn is compact and will require minimal modifications.

I have an M with a Behlen PS set up. It seems to work ok. I would try to find a complete set up in a salvage yard or on a parts tractor. Piecing a set up together could get real pricey. I kind of am getting spoiled with that PS. First tractor I have ever owned that had it and it is great when bushogging.

thanks for the replies, what tractors came with PS? I was not aware of Ms w/ p.s. from the factory, I thought all were armstrong or homemade. Can it be retro-fitted from a 400 series or something? Is the Char lynn system a complete set up that is available?
