I removed the pto shaft in a 42 H to replace the seals in it. Then time came to put it back. I asked for and received advice on here on how to get it back in there.

So, I followed all the advice and for 3 or 4 days, at various times, I just could not get it to go back in there correctly.

So, tonight, I pulled it out and got the tape measure out...the distance from the hole up front to the surface of the entrance hole was 20 Inches. The shaft was 22 inches. SO, the light finally came on, I was trying to hit a hole that I had passed 1/2 inch earlier!!!!! It would NEVER get in there that way. So, got the shaft back in there, installed some long alignment bolts, got me a wiggle bar to slide on the shaft and started moving it towards the hole...hit it the first time!!!!! Whoopee. You just cannot beat a hard knocks college education.

Yes, a degree from the "University of Life" is a good one to have. For me, it has been a great school; home of "The Fighting Knuckleheads". mike

Congrats glad it all worked for ya.

Sorry but your remark at the end reminded me of a Teddy Roosevelt quote.
"A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad"
