Howdy, Boys: I am going to try an (old) aftermarket friction throttle on my Super H. If I don't like it, I can always go back to the tooth type, but I want to try one. Question: I see the replacement discs for sale (in pairs), but do not know whether I am supposed to install one or both discs. Also, if it takes two, do I glue them to each side of the throttle or do they have enough "bite" to just install them as is? The throttle lever I have is old & dirty and I cannot tell from looking at it - even after disassembly - how these discs were installed nor can I tell how many were in it. Thanks as always. mike

I cut ‘em out of a piece of 1/16” thick “general service” sheet gasket material I picked up at a tractor show flea market some years ago. Disks cut from stiff leather or woven conveyor belt will work too. But don’t bother making disks from inner tube and similar rubbery type materials. The “rebound action” of the rubbery stuff when you let go of the handle after making a throttle adjustment will drive you crazy!

A single disk is all that’s required for the M&W handle and for the Chinese aftermarket handle sold by Tisco, etc. No need to glue the disk to either metal surface – just drop it in loose then tighten the spring tension nut until you get the amount of drag you desire.

Note! Be sure the metal surfaces that face the friction disc are clean and absolutely oil/grease-free before assembling. If the surfaces are rusty, sandblasting them to bare metal helps a bunch.

anything between the two discs will work a piece of leather,a piece of belting, piece of innertube.

I'd glue just one bro. Use JB weld but only use like 3-4 spots.
