Restoring my first farmall, f 12 and was wondering if there is supposed to be a place to carry the crank handle when driving the tractor. Thanks for any help.

On the mag side of the engine, put the handle over the front engine mount bar, and allow the elbow to drop between the frame and engine block flange. The socket on the end of the crank keeps if from falling thru. Has rode there for 36 years since we've had it.

We put the crank at the bottom of the steering post, but you can also put the crank on the tractor and put a cotter pin in the crank and you can just leave it on the front of the tractor, but if you do this, NEVER push the crank in when the tractor is running or the crank will spin as fast as the engine is.

Here you go guys. It's a simple little clamp with a very thin wall tubing. It's not the greatest pic cause I don't know how to post big pictures. If you are interested in a bigger photo, e-mail me and I will send a full size thru e-mail. Thanks, Doug

Nice ol 12! Is the bracket an IH part or did someone make it. I don't have a parts book for F-12s and was wondering. I wouldn't mind putting one on mine if I could find one or could just make one. My ol 10-20 had the crank that stayed in the hole full time and got it in the ground a few times plowing. I finally got around to making a repo of the original hook that held it up out of the way. Got tire of cleaning the dirt out of the handle.

I just put mine in between the steering post and the tank support. It is easiest to place there from the left side. It will rest on the top plate ok and won't fall off. That keeps it out of the way and won't let it hang up on anything when it is moving, or if you walk past the front. It is not a great idea to leave it on the front because of the hang up factor and something could get bent or broken. I would like to see the pic of the clip. I alwasys thought there had to be a place to put it originally.

52 G, yeah, there is a hanger on the side of the frame rail right in front of the clutch pedal. I'll TRY to post a pic later today. Doug

Put a 16 D nail in the handle so it can not come off shaft in tractor & let it ride out front all time. I thank that is what the spring is for on tractor shaft to keep it feom getting aginst pulley when running. I learned to drive on a F12 about1951 Just purchased one for myself 2 months ago just like the one DAD had even down to power lift
