I have an IH 364 diesel and I use it for mowing. I was wondering what is a good RPM to run the engine at?

On the tachometer there should be a marked line that shows were the engine runs to obtain 540 rpm on the pto. It should say PTO on it or something of that nature.

Beats me. I have 6 IH tractors with tachs all the way back from 57 to 81, and all of them have it marked on the tach.

Normally the owner"s manual will tell you what engine RPM will give you 540 rpm at the PTO.
