Will any distributor off of an A or other letter series tractor fit an M?

It will bolt up but the centrifcal adavane will not be the same and will not run the tractor properly.

IH parts number and I&T advance curves are the same for all non super, non diesel letter series tractors.

Yes, it would fit. They are the same off A, B, C, H, M Super & non-super. They may possibly fit other models, but I know for sure it fits these models. I think they are different on a Cub.

They may be different internally as far as advance springs and weights, but the actual distributor unit itself is the same, even on a Cub.

The distributor itself is the exact same unit for all IH 4-cylinder gas tractors built through 1958, and for others up through 1979.

If you are converting from a magneto, I think you need the spacer from an M to mount the distributor.
