Just took the pedals and the brake/clutch shaft out of my 53 super h. Sending the clutch pedal out for a bushing and plan on ordering a new shaft. The original was worn about 1/3 of the way through!!

Any tricks here? Seems pretty straightforward.

Any decent maching shop can put bushings in the pedals and make you a new shaft. Simpler for them than fixing your old one.

I just did mine. Friend welded Brass/bronze on the shaft and I filed and sanded it down. 4 inch 40 grit flap wheel on the angle grinder, then b=====d file, then emery paper.Bw sure and pick up the correct thrust washers for assembly. They also work well to use for filing gauges.

Forgot to ask about the seals. How do I get them out, or do I really need to? How about new ones?

Replace them, any place that specializes in seals and bearings can cross the IH number to Chicago Rawhide or National, the two major seal suppliers. Or get them from Case-IH, price is usually higher for the exact same seal. Easy to get out without the shaft installed.
