Finally got around to rewiring the old 240 this weekend. All set up for 12 volt neg with a Delco 10SI alternator. For the sake of keeping it somewhat original looking, I'd like to go with a internally resisted coil. Anyone know a source for a 12 volt internally resisted coil that has the same outside appearance? 240 should have the same coil as any smaller IH. I salvaged the alternator off of a 3010 Diesel. The pulley is too wide, as the belt just bottoms out in it. 240 has a 3/8" v-belt. Anyone know were to get a 3/8" v-belt pulley to fit a 10SI? Possibly an older GM car? Smaller the diameter the better.

the 3010 Diesel was originally 24 volt, you sure your alternator is 12 volt?

Yes, I'm sure. Originally the 3010, 4010, early 3020, and ealry 4020 diesels had a generator. Many have been converted to a straight 12 volt negitive ground system using a Delco 10SI alternator. I actually only purcahsed and resold the engine from that 3010, but obviously someone converted that tractor to 12V.

You can get one of those coils from Napa auto parts. The part number is 1C14SB and the cost is about $40.00. Don't know anything about the appearance. Hal
