I just bought a Farmall Super M and I'm really happy to have it. I was trying to find out about it's serial number which is FBK232247X1. When I look under members I see some have numbers like this and others just have digits. Did I really get a Super M or was I duped? I appreciate any and all help.

FBK is deffenitly a M. the person might of ment that it has had the motor upgraded to a super M. you can check the serial number on the motor and let us know what it is. if it says FBK and the number matches the number on the bell housing then its the orginaln engine. but it dosent mean that the motor couldnt of been upgraded at some point. the early supers just basicly had more horse power. but the stage 2s were alot diffrent. so if he put the super kit in it and gave it disk brakes basicly it would be like a super m. how much did you pay? Before you bought the tractor you could of made yourself familer with the serial numbers before hand. so im guessing it wasent alot of money. I always do reserch on things im gonna spend alot of money on and have it around for a while.

NO -- the gearing is different, particulaly 3rd and 4th, the carb is different, plus many other minor things.

Jonnnny I agree its a regular M, but the engine serial # won't match chassis serial #. My guess is the engine serial # on that tractor is 222247 X1. Maybe Andy will let us know.

So it would appear I got an M then. Not so bad, I like the tractor and will use it to put my boat in the lake. I was told it was a Super M though and it ticks me off that it isn"t.

It was a "super" M, meaning it was a really good tractor, not a "Super M" as in the actual model :)

The previous owner probably didn't know the difference either. If he was the one that repainted the tractor, he probably thought the Super M decals were "cute" and put them on.

Dad and I have gone to look at a couple of "Super Hs" over the years and the owners seemed to honestly have no idea that the decals didn't match the tractor.

I'm sorry guys, I have had a tough time finding my way back to my origial questions. Arggh. Well, to answer questions, I shelled out 2500 bucks for my M. I did research on tractor shed etc. Mine is in very nice condition, very good rubber. Repainted, clean, gears do not grind, brakes are outstanding. It ran very smooth when I got it, but I thought it needed some help. I changed plugs and wire, new coil, and a couple other things. The gang I hang with at the lake can not believe how quiet it is. I can post a pic if I get some help from you all :)
