Where would a good place be to purchase parts? Especially ones that aren't gonna cost a fortune but still are of good quality

Tara: Your never going find all parts economically priced at any given place of business. A lot of parts with low wear factor can be bought quite economically at used tractor parts yards.

For high wear and normal maintainence parts there are several online outlets including right here a YT. Personally, I go right back to the guys who built it at what is now CaseIH. I've yet to find anyone that has all, even CaseIH don't have all anymore. Plain and simple you have to shop around.

Some parts will surprise you, just because a certain business sold you low priced steering parts, doesn't mean his engine parts will be low priced. You have to shop for every item, and it will surprise you just how often CaseIH have the best price.

Tara, I am a FBN=Full-Blooded Norwegian, not that I am necessarily a slow reader, but I was back reading post from a few days ago. In reference to your ? about casting codes, they tell the month, date and year the parts were cast for your "red iron". Budweiser has ran ads calling this "born on date". I like a good Spotted Cow or Fat Squirrel and haven"t seen such on the bottle. Parts "...not going to cost a fortune..." while the board is still laughing and feeling sorry for you at the same time as most can empathize with you on this subject, this board has a "Tractor Parts" link under the "Marketplace" heading on the left side of this page. Can"t recall who posted a few months back about stopping at the YT bldg. and meeting folks, but they were positive. Depending on what you need/want, you can search the classifieds and the photo ads and click the link for parts, both are also under the "Marketplace" section. My home page is the "Implements" in photo ads. Some who post here have "connections/parts businesses of their own, but can"t really advertise such on this board in bold print. They may spell it out for you in "dot com" fashion. I check with my Case-IH dealers in Wisconsin as I like to see them stay in business. One particular is an elderly gentleman in Hillsboro, Wisc. who has his old dealership bldg. and been at it for decades...I like those old guys! Knowledge, friendly, the dollars stimulate our economy and a good joke or two.
