When you guys talk about "dead grounding" the genny's field terminal to help solve problems with the charging system, do you disconnect the wire currently attached to the genny's field terminal which runs to the light switch (cutout relay setup)? Or do you simply add the "dead ground" jumper wire to the genny's field terminal and leave everything else as it?

Just let the wires as they are and just add a wire from field to ground

With these "A" system generators, it would make NO difference if the wire on the "F" terminal is disconnected or NOT, when you "full-field" the generator.
