I have the letter series book by guy and it is a real good book, it gives a lot of info about them. But one thing supprises me. When I go to look up where my h was made, it says unkown. Some one must know where the all the diffrent models were made, i mean there are people still alive from that time peroid but all the reserch i have done whether it be internet or books no one will say forsure where the H and M were made. I was wondering whar tractors came out of farmall works rock island and chicago, and others. I have seen alot of rock island pictures and i know they even had there own doctors office on site. i know louisville was call "largest tractor factory in the world" it seams there is good info about that plant. Guy, I would think would have the answer or at least a good idea. When i answerd the question of the "L" code I thought he meant dates. Where are the factory codes? like on parts I commanly will see the letter "F" or "FF" guy did not go over this in his book. I wish he would wright another book or two. I seam to have farmall fever and have had it since i was 12 or 13 when i started to work on the farm and was called to drive. My wife wishes there was a cure. I told her when I die if the kids don't want my tractors she could sell them and live off the money. I plan to have 100 before i go. mabey more if i keep up the current trend. Sorry for the long post. but does any one know where the diffrent farmall models were made? anyone know all the diffrent plants? Thanks ahead of time jonnnny2006

Talked to unk and he says Hs and Ms were made in rock island for sure! He didn't know if they may have been made elsewhere also but they were made there (300 a day!!) Also the rock island plant is still standing!!!! I just saw it the other day!!! I only live 5 miles away and they have an auto body shop working in there

My Grandfather retired from Farmall in Rock Island and my Great Uncle transfered to IH then retired. Grandad passed away over ten years ago, but I have a call in to unk and as soon as he tells me what tractors were made there I will let you know

its sad that there is nothing left of the rock island plant. they say that 50% of all orders to other factorys was taken away as a result of farmall closeure. i seen some pictures of the old bulding and it was kinda ugly. when they shut down the quad cities was hit hard. Alot of people left town for a new life, a life without farmall. They just got to big and took too many risk. they had trouble with there six cyl. motors and if i rember correct they had gear trouble with some of the newer models. people lost confidence in i.h. plus i.h. did not expect there tractors would last so long. i.h. accepted rescue and that was a sad sad day. the reason we dont have alot of information and guy can correct me if i'm wrong case ordered paper documents destroyed. I belive it was an attempt to distant themselves from liabilitys they may have been passed down. at least there bringing back the farmall name. but we all know that the new farmall is nothing like the old ones. I wish case ih would start making a tractor just like the H and M again but with all the improvments. but keep the style of the old ones. build them out of the same type of material. I guess a part of me don't wanna let go. We had a i.h. dealer in town and it did convert to the case ih but it was closed down not to many years after the merger. the bulding is still there and it sat empty for many many years. now a farm tire place is in there. It would of been cool to tour the rock island plant. My brother went to germany all expences paid by john deere as his boss got to tour there big plant over seas. thats on thing the j.d.guys have on us there still the same john deere. Still i will always be stuck in the farmall time peroid and will countinue to add to my collection.

Case actually got 0% liability from the old IH products. Some documentation was destroyed by IH/Navistar, namely the build cards, but quite a bit of information is still out there. Hell, want the blueprint of the piston of a Mogul 45? Just e-mail the part number into the IH Archives at the Wisconsin Historical Society and they'll e-mail you back the drawing-Case gave the really old tractor blueprints to the WHS and they've been scanned.

Jonnnny, I think most H and Ms were made at Farmall Works, but not sure. Louisville built Cubs,A,B,C and supers. 100,130,140 and likely 200 and 230. Some Super Ms were also built there. I toured the Louisville plant in the mid 70s, 76 I think and it looked like a hudred acre lot of 140s parked outside, they were also loading a train with them that day. Maybe somebody can enlighten both of us. I to have had this same illness since I was 9, when gramps put me on that little 1950 Cub and said there you go George. BTW he is the one who named me George. My mother named me Gregory, but gramps said that wasn't a good manly name so George it is. All my uncles and even dad have called me George since I was a baby. My mother and wife are the only people who call me by my name. I still have the Cub.

what ever become of the louisville plant? is the bulding still there? does case use it? i know in 05 they tore down farmall works rock island. it is so sad that should of been kept as a historical monument. i would love it if i could take my tractor back there and see where she was born. it makes me sad to see them tear down history for spparments or parking lot' sad if you ask me. so much history and now the tractors can never see where they were born.

I think the paper was Quad City Times instead of news.

There was a news letter here a couple months ago that said they were tearing down the Rock Island plant then. I think it was from the Quad City News or something like that.

Like Guy said, not a trace of it left. There is an IH truck plant still in Louisville. Or there was the last time I noticed it. The only time I ever get to Louisville now days is to the National Farm Machinery show that is held at the Ky Fair and Exposition Center every February. I only go to it every 2 or 3 years. To many people there.

Louisville Plant was torn down a few years ago to make way for a runway expansion- it was right next to the airport. Nothing left. Case never had any part of that plant, IH was closing it down before the merger.
