If you push in the clutch pedal and the clutch doesn't engage right away, or at all, is that a "slipping clutch?" What causes it and how to fix that? I have this on both an F-12 and 10-20.

Thanks,

Dan

No thats a sticking clutch. Rusty or greay flywheels and disc casue that for the most part. Slipping is when the tractor wont go or "slips" while moving.

Thanks John. I know the flywheel was rusty when I put it on the F-12. Cleaned it up some, but maybe not enough.

There may be on more thing on the f-12. if the groves on the disk are full of dust they can stick due to a vacuum between the flywheel and disk. They usually don't stay stuck long though, just a second or two, but it gets your attention. On the 10-20 if it was built before 1929 they used a muitiple disk type clutch and those can be sticky on realese and grabby on engage. 29 and up they use the same clutch as the f-20 single disk.

My 10-20 is a 1929 model so would have the single disk clutch then. I'm guessing there's rust on the flywheel, given condition of everthing else w/rust. Should have seen the inside of the gas tank!
