Properly used and maintained, you cannot beat the balanced head IH mower! Dad has a 100 trailer type mower and I have a 120 semi-mount and an 1110 mid-mount. The 1110 and 100 have 7' bars and the 120 has a 9' bar. I just bought the 120 over the winter and it needs a going-over before haying season, but I'm sure it will work great.

If you need more information on balanced head mowers, my email is open and I have some owner's manuals and a Blue Ribbon Service Manual for them as well.

Steven, I wasn't saying the balance head wasn't any good. In my opinion they are the finest mowers ever built. They are what I use right now. I have a 100 fast hitch on my Super C and a 1100 on the M The one he is talking about is not a balance head.

Okey dokey... just making sure that the balanced head mower wasn't getting trampled on! LOL

I don't pay attention to any of the mowers before the balanced head - pitman type mowers do not work well for mowing road ditches and steep water ways, our primary use for sickle mowers. Anything level is left for the New Holland 116 pivot tongue... :o)

Last time I drove to ND it cost me $350 in fuel making 17 mpg in a 97 Dodge Ram 1500.

I'm hoping to catch someone on their way down here to save some cost... :o)

As long as it is fast hitch it will work. I have seen a couple of 100s in the YT classifieds lately. One guy was asking 400 and another was asking 1450 which I thought was quite over priced. The 100 is a balance head mower. The pitman mower like the 24 will work fine though.

The others don't work any better. The old pitman mowers will outlast the balance head. I have several of each and use the pitmans just as much as the others.
