M Hydraulic System Questions

Hello All!

I just have a general question for everyone, and Im hoping someone has an easy answer (Im sure there is one, I just dont know it....)

So what is the correct level of hydraulic fluid for the lift-all pump on my M? I know at one point there was supposed to be a dipstick, but the previous owner had replaced it with a pipe for when he ran two way hydraulics on it.

I just want to make sure I have enough oil in this thing before I ever try to use it.

Also, whats the approximate length of hose I will need to connect to the couplers up front and put a remote on the back?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

~Bug

The best way to get the length correct is to use a length of old garden hose (or similar) to make the run needed. The primary important factor is to avoid the platform areas where the operators feet are normally positioned. Clips should be located to fasten the system so it does not chafe in use. George has the other question covered. I think it is close to 5.5"from the top of the pipe (or there abouts) JimN

Thanks for the advice fellows!

I went with a 72" hose, but I probably could have gotten away with a 60". I know I can get any length I want, but I wanted to try and stay with the premade just to save some money. Its a little long, but that gives me a few different ways to play with routing it before Im all said and done.

Much appreciated!

I must only be reading half of the questions. I didn't even see the part about the hose. I did think I measured one for you last week though.

Hi George.

You did tell me about what I would need, and Im pretty sure you even told me to go with the 5' one... :) I just now realized that I had asked that with my sickle bar questions. Wow, sorry about that. I didnt go through the guy you told me about, but only because all the parts were pretty standard for what I did today. But Ill use him in the future, Im sure.

I dont want you guys thinking that Im not listening to your advice, its a Godsend for sure!

Thanks again for the help!

No need to be sorry, I didn't remember for sure if that was you or not. It certainly doesn't matter where you got the stuff at, as long as you got her to going.

Yep, it was me. I went and actually checked my messages yesterday and there it was, plain as day.

But I did finally get them hooked up, it works real slick. Now I just need to get better at working them nice and smooth, it seems to be a little quick on the draw right now. Ill play with it some more and try to get a feel for it.

Thanks again for the help!

Jim, I wouldn't worry about those dolphins much, but watch the sharks. When I was 12 years old Dad flew me to the Bahama's. On our way we flew over the beach at Ft. Pierce Florida were I had swam many times, there was a hundred or so folks in the water and just a few yards out was what looked like 30 to 40 sharks swimming around. Nodody even knew they were there except us. I haven't been back in the ocean since.

It holds 6 quarts. You can fill it to just below the filler hole if necessary. You can drain it, put back 6 quarts and make or use another dipstick and see were it registers full at.
