I was brushhogging with my 1066 last weekend using one remote to raise and lower it. Using the one with lever farthest from the seat. Everything works ok with no leaks but when you move the lever to raise or lower, it is hard (actually makes a snapping sound) to return the lever to the neutral position. Once the cylinder is at the end of its stroke, either direction, it automatically returns to neutral like it is supposed to. I'm thinking the detent balls in the valve assembly have a groove worn somewhere or something. I know I'm not the first one with this but couldn't find anything in the archives. Anybody had this and fixed it? How and what was wrong and what did you do to repair. Tractor Vet?

The adjustment for the detent on the auxiliary valve is inside the back of the valve. The back of the valves have a round pipe sticking out with a plug on the end. In the center of the plug there should be a dust cap covering a hole in the center. If this is missing you may have dirt inside the detent causing it to work harder. You can try flushing it out with light oil. If that makes no difference, use a screwdriver and loosen the adjustment screw inside the hole about a quarter turn or enough to get the valve to work easier. If it gets too loose to stay in detent while using a cylinder just tighten it a little.

HEY thanks Owen!
That valve assembly was rebuilt by Case buddy last year with new orings and all cleaned up. It does have the dust cap. I'll pop it out and try the 1/4 turn or maybe more till I get there.
