The thumbnails show a IH 1300 Sickle mower I bought on e-bay attached to IH 140. The drive shaft pulley is covered bya sleeve to make up the gap between the 1" od shaft and 1 1/4" pulley hub id. The hub looks welde to the pulley, and the sleeve and shaft looked mangled. The parts book doesn't show a sleeve. The original pin sheared off the pulley hub and the 1 1/4" bolt I replaced it with also sheared off. The 5/16" x 2 1/2" bolt currently there has not sheared (obviously). Should I spend the bucks for original parts or live with this? Advice appreciated.

Is it possible that you have a combination of conditioner hitch drive and non conditioner hitch drive here. the conditioner hitch would have splines and over runnin clutch,(big spring on back). the non conditioner would be straight shear pin and keyed. I'd use it like it is to get a feel as how it works, and start lookin for good used parts to get her back together. They are nice mowers.

Well, that's a fairly rough "farmer repair", but it looks reasonably servicable. To fix it right, you'd have to replace the shaft and pulley for sure, and probably the bearing(s). I could see that running into some serious money.

Depends on your intended use, I guess. If you were just gonna trim ditchbanks a couple of times a year, I'd probably let it go.

If you're gonna depend on it to drop 50 acres of hay, I'd fix it right.

I'm so glad I got the pics to post I'm practicing another. This is a shot of a stainless steel mower I made from an old Woods RM 500.

The deck is 304 SSt and the top cover panels are 316 SSt. Had the gear box galvaniized. Used the original spindles, pulley's, etc. Spread the spindles to make the mower cut 72" and used RM 600 blades. It cuts great and is about 12 yrs old. Only some rust on the wheel brackets which are still regular steel (got lazy).
