Brought this M home Saturday. Sold as a non-runner, wasn't locked up. Paid $400, towed it home. Wife says it looks rough, I say a diamond in the rough. What do you think? I am trying to collect each of the letter series. It took an hour and a half to get it running.

How can you (they) cut firewood with a buzz saw mounted that high? Or am I not seeing it right? Does it come down lower when in use? Most are mounted at frame level.

The saw folds down and looks like it would be about 3 feet high.

Johnny 2006 below said it all!!! Neat!! And I like to see them in their working clothes too. It looks like a pretty "straight" tractor. (Why don't I ever run into any of these deals?)

I say you got a SUPER M! even is it is only a reg M. I like all farmalls. To me I like them better in there work clothes although they look nice all painted up..... i just like to see them and enjoy them just the way they are. I just dont like cobble job wiring or any thing that is not the way it was intended to be..... like i said befor, you got a SUPER M! A fantastic M. Very nice score.

Looks like you got a Super M there or a very late M, with the disk breaks.

Andrew Z - If I am not mistaken it couldnt be a SM bc of the battery location. The brakes went either way in the later years to the best of my knowledge.
It is also confirmed by the owner as I read on ;)

The stage 1 Super had the battery under the tank just like a regular M, the same is true with the stage 1 Super H

No, some of the early 53s were stage one as well.

Well, I see 400 dolars worth of parts that won't even effect the tractor. That looks like a fuel gauge gas cap on it. It was a good deal.
