Hi Again, I am going over to check out a 2504 this afternoon and possibly buy, and there is no oil pressure gauge on the tractor. Where on the engine is the port I hook the gauge to? And would it be 1/8 pipe? I will take one with me and want to have it together when I get there because it is a little ways over there.

Thanks!

Does it use an idiot light when the oil pressure is low? If it does you could install a pipe tee or just remove the sending unit and install your gauge. I would take along a 1/4 to 1/8 pipe reducing bushing just in case its 1/4" pipe thread. There may be a pipe plug around the filter too. Hal

Sort of just guessing here, but I think the pressure should be around 75#, engine hot, at full throttle. Should not drop by more than half on the guage with the engine at slow idle, again while the engine is hot. If the pressure falls off greatly at idle, or doesn't hold around 75# while hot, it might still be OK, but will soon need work.

I would see what it is when the engine is hot.

The pressure sender on mine is below and to the right of the oil filter. Single wire connected to it. Be careful. I tried removing mine to tee in a gauge and rung off the connection just about flush with the block. As an alternate you might try removing the pipe plug at the base of the filter and measure there. This connection on mine seems less prone to ringing it off.
