Hey guys, hope you can give a first time tractor owner a few tips here. My H won’t start and gas almost pours out the bottom of the carb. I took the carb apart to make sure the float was not stuck. Put everything back together and it does the same thing. So, any suggestions? What about a rebuild kit, what is it, will it help, and where can I buy one. I didn’t find a kit on this site.

couple other things for you to check, these were problems i had with my h. chek the carb bowl gasket, mine was warped, and it hung inside the bowl and caught the float holding it open. check the float and make sure its not rubbing against the side of the bowl. last, check the pin that holds the float in. they have a habit of slipping out and dropping the side of the float too.

As Rusty indicates, the needle and seat on the carb (what the float moves) is pronbably worn so that the fuel is not controlled entering the bowl, and floods it. Always shut off the fuel when stopping the tractor, even for 2 minutes. It is necessary. JimN

The needle valve and seat most likely needs replaced, but the float may also have a hole in it and it doesn"t float anymore. This site does have carb kits, and I have carb kits. If you have never done it before, I suggest you engage the help of an experienced tractor carb rebuilder. Not saying you can"t do it yourself, but there are a lot of small parts inside that can be damaged if you don"t know how to get it apart, and there are also several places where dirt can hide, and if you don"t know where to look, or how to get the dirt out, your freshly rebuilt carb will never function properly. Another option is to go with a rebuilt carb. YT sells them, and will exchange yours for a fresh one, or you can send it out to someone and have it rebuilt.
