Well, I have read about it on here and Tractor Vet talking about how to fix. I'm talking about that little 1/4" roll pin in the range trans linkage floor level, behind that cover on back of steering column. When I went to put it in gear yesterday, I thought it was going in gear awful easy. I let out on the clutch and nothing. Shifted it to reverse and worked fine. Not too hard to put in a new roll pin once I found it. Already had that cover off and took out the right battery. Drove out broken pin and drove new one in.

Are there any more of these little guys hiding in there just wanting to strand me somewhere?

Here is a little tip: put a small hose clamp around it and you don't have to worry about it slipping out again. I did this on a 826 I had, saw it being used on a neighbors 966.

I know of a lot of guys that drill that thing out to a 5/16Ths inch hole and put in one of those "double rolled" pins.

Probably a good idea! I was in need of brushhoggin 20 acres of new bermudagrass and this all happened yesterday @ 1:00pm and I was in a big hurry to get out there and mow. Maybe it would be easier at this point to drive a smaller roll pin inside the 1/4 " one in there now.

The roll pin was put in by someone elseas they are or were suppose to be a tappered Groved pin as the holes were tappered drilled , but over time they got woren and that pin fell out and someone drilled stright thru with a 1/4 inch bit . Makes it easier when one must take one apart . as for doubel pinnin thats fine drillen out to 5/16th thats ok TILL it starts getting sloppie then there is noplace to go the next time other then MAKEN up a new special pin to take up slop.
