My friend has an 856 international and when he has it idoling and not doing anything just sitting it is blowing smoke really bad. how can he fix that?

First we need to know if it is out the stack or is it out the crankcase vent???? and what color of smoke , black , blue , white????

More that he ran it it quit after it got warm, and it was coming out of the stack. and the smoke is black, and he wants to know were the crankcase vent is.

First off if it is black smoke then it is fuel . first check the air filter . Next would be have a professional that know what he is doing with the injection pump as someone may have gotten there grubby fingers in it and it is set wrong Check the pump timing . Next do a valve adjustment here again if ya do not know what your doing then let a pro do it as valve to piston clearance is tight and if ya mess up ya could make a valve make friends with a piston . Next have the injectors tested as they may need rebuilt . The breather is located on the left ft. of the engine and is a tube from the head down the side of the engine behind the left frame rail.

I'd say he needs to change his fuel filters...
