have a n International Farmall 656 with 1600 hrs, use very little for bushogging and general utility. started and ran for about 1 hour and tractor stopped and would not start, after several attempts found that the crankcase was full of gas, took carburator apart and cleaned and put back on , and changed oil and started and ran OK. what caused this ?????, need your feedback, thanks

Always shut off thefuel at the tank. Your float stuck and the fuel ran into the engine and down the cylinders into the crank case. If it survived the lack of lubrication, it is a miricle. You probably need a needle and seat in the carb. But still turn off the fuel when stopped for more than 5 min. Though it seams impossible to get there, it does. JimN
