Well I got the trike off and that was pretty easy. Now trying to remove the bolts holding the bolster, have 2 loose, and 1 broke out of the eight bolts. Heated the bolts until they were red hot, and they still won't budge : (

What do I try next to get them out?

Also there are 2 bolts missing on the engine mount, looks like the holes do not line up because the rail is bent?

Oh I forgot---I saw your torch lying on the floor...I am not sure you can get enough heat out of that tip to do the job.

Sometimes, you can heat them, treat them, sing to them, curse them, and they still break. But even that is not the end of the world. I center punch them and start with a small drill bit and work myself up to "almost" to the threads. Then I take a sharp pointed chizzle and tap the remaining lip at an angle towards the center of the hole and they usually pop out for me without damage. then run the thread chaser through to clean it up. ALTHOUGH, the suggestion below about boring a hole in a piece of metal and welding to the broken bolt is interesting. I am going to try that on my next broken one.

I usally take a 2" piece of flat steel 1/4 inch thick and drill a 1/4 inch hole in it. I then arc weld it thru the hole to the flat of the bolt head. Let it cool and bend the steel up a little like a handle. Work it back and forth a little and it comes out. I just did the broken bolts in a 656 rear axle housing...worked like a champ.
Grandad taught me that years ago. I am not a very good welder, but it still works for me.
Something about the bolt expanding and cooling in the housing helps it work.
Good luck.....

keep em sprayed up with pb blaster or similiar product, pretty sure you an get at the back side of the bolts where they come thru the bolster, add some heat spray, impact back and forth, set the impact abut half power, you wanna tease them a little to work the penetrant inside. also heard of guys heating the bolts up and putting candle wax on so it draws in the threads. i broke one off on an m, would up drilling it out and putting a heli coil in

I would keep using that heat. Try using an air impact wrench. Hal

The air impact is all I have been using Hal, thought I would have less of a chance of breaking bolts off like Tom Windsor said happened to him. I am afraid to put a big breaker bar on them.

Sounds like the normal old H teardown to me. BTDT
While the bolts are hot, try a little hammering on the bolt heads. Not enough to deform the bolt heads, but enough to get their attention. BTW, I only broke two off on my last H. ken

I'm restoring an H now, also a full time heavy equip. mechanic. My bolts broke that hold the frame rail to the bolster, no problem, bolster is cast so you can melt the bolt out without hurting the cast unless you leave the torch tip on the cast for a long time.
