Hello...I have posted a few times on here, and Have gotten some great advice. Hope it will work again. Anywasy...My problem is that when I let the tractor sit after running for more than say 10min, the carb starts to drip, and then a steady stream of gas comes flowing out of the bottome of the carb. It is the small round/flat part of the carb between the bowl, and the inlet. I rebuilt the carb, and adjusted the floats according to the specs in the kit. It worked great and I thought I had it fixed until I put it in the field, and had about 1hr on it. Parked it, came in for lunch, and when I returned, there was a river of gas under it. My problem isn't just the gas is leaking, but it is backing up unto the air cleaner and causing a flood start condition. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jarrett

I've gotten in the habit of closing the valve under the tank and letting the engine run until the gas empties from the carb. You can tell when the engine stops. I then turn the key off. I think either the seat or throttle needle valve gets gunked up or trash gets in that prevents a tight seal.

Sounds just like the problem I had last summer. Took the carb to one shop and they got a kit and but it all in there but still had the same problem. Took it to another place and the cleaned it out in carb cleaner again and put it back together. Still had the same drip. Bought a float and had it cleaned for the third time, still dripped. Then I was at the farm one day and the guy that works for me called and said the gas was dripping out bad. I had moved it outside and didnt turn off the gas valve. Got back to the store and sure enough it was a a good drip, almost stream, comming out of it.

I bit the bullet and bought a new carb from here at YT. It doesnt drip! I had gotten in the habit of turning the gas off so I still do it just to be safe.

I let the guy that works for me read your post. He started laughing and said that sounded just like me.

The ohers are right. I learned this lesson on a '51 Super-A a long time ago: Turn the gas valve under the tank 'off' whenever you shut down the tractor except fot a short period of time.

That little round part on the bottom between the carb bowl and the inlet is a drain for excess gas when the carb floods. It also has a built-in filter to prevent dirt from being drawn into the intake. Make sure it is not partly stopped up.

Bobs advice is solid. After that it is usualy debrie that gets caughtbetween the needel &seat. That can usualy be flushed out by shutting the fuel flow off and then starting & running till it quits.then turn on the fuel again and it will flush out the debrie.CENTAUR

Is the gasket installed between the seat part of the inlet valve needle and seat and the carb upper body, and is the seat TIGHTLY screwed into place?
