Yeah I was bored this morning and tired of hunting for things in my garage whenever I'm working on something. Also I've added a few things in the last couple weeks and had to re-arrange to be sure there is still enough room for vehicles...

While I'm rambling I'll review a couple of tools I really enjoy having, first of which is the the Bone creeper. Nice big wheels that roll over cords, rocks, etc. instead of pushing them or just plain stopping. The wheels bolt on with 4 bolts so spinning around doesn't cause them to loosen like the cheap creepers either. Only complaint is that sometimes the humps for the wheels get in the way when you are cramped under a vehicle. Overall, much better than your standard cheapo creeper.

Another review: Craftsman shop vac - indisposable in my opinion. I like the automotive type filter with pleats that is easy to clean. Much better than the cheapo sheets of paper on the lesser vacs.

Never enough storage racks. Finally broke down and spent some money for a can rack (ordered another today) that holds 6 spray cans. Something like $14 plus shipping from Racor.

Towel rack is simple to make: all 1/2" black pipe, floor plate w/4 screws to hold it up attach 3" pipe then a T fitting. Attach 12" pipe to each side of T and a street elbow to keep the towel roll from falling off. Cost under $10.

A couple more shots of my garage in AZ:

Anyone else have product reviews or handy shop tips to share?

Can you come to IL and clean my garage? The wifes car still fits but that is about it! But there is a F-20 and a Super A and a bunch of extra but needed (that is what I tell the wife anyway)parts.

You have a car(s) in your garage? Unheard of! I had one almost in the garage once but I couldn't close the door. I think it was a hail storm. You obviously don't have enough projects, and or equipment. I never get one done without two other things breaking or otherwise giving up the ghost. Try to buy things that are old and worn out instead of all that new stuff, New stuff keeps going and going and you end up taking pictures and wasteing time on the computer. If you do buy old stuff you end up spending your life battling iron oxide, which is sorta like a quest. Impossible but it keeps you out of the bars.

New stuff?!? That is an 01 Accord with 96k on it and a 97 Grand Caravan with 57k on it.

Future project choices:
79 Dodge Lil' Red Express
86 Dodge W150 4x4 slant 6 4-speed
46 Farmall A

Really thinking the 86 W150 will pull a trailer with the A on it down here to AZ, then I have two projects and enough to keep the garage full of things other than cars!

Well there is hope for you then after all. Those projects have potential. LOL.... Yep thats pretty new stuff, Our newest vehicle has 191,000 on it. but then we are old and retired too. Our daughter, who lives in Scotsdale, calls me the patron saint of lost mechanical causes. (NO Idea why) Good luck to you on your projects.

never run over cords. It damages the insulation and can cause failures and shocks.

Never run over garden hoses, it damages them, unless u got them stupid flat ones and its probly not good on them either.

Steven, I just have a couple tips. In the top photo, just above the floor jack, would you please turn that square piece of plywood around so nobody has to look at the tire scuffing. Now, just one more thing, turn the square piece of metal with the numeral 1 in an upright position. You don"t know when a neighbor might walk up to the open garage and see such untidy conditions. There, that should just about do it. Oh, ya know if it were me...I would stack my four rear IH wheel weights on the floor to cover up the oil stains I see in the second from the bottom photo. But then you don"t have four wheel weights do you.

Yep, I'll take those suggestions the next time I'm out there... I don't know if the apartment managers want me to screw the sign to the new door that they just painted so I leave it in the garage. They can deal with it when I move somewhere else... Interesting story on that board, went off the beaten path to try and get a nice pic of my del Sol - the sand in the desert is quite soft. I sunk right to the frame! Used what few boards I had in the garage to get it out - was a lot of work jacking the car up and putting boards under the tires.

As for the stains on the floor... I'm going to pick up some concrete cleaner and get that fixed up. :o) I wish I had some IH weights and a place to go pulling around here :o(

Yes, yes I do have way too much free time. And I spend way too much of it on this computer... and I can't stop thinking about things. I've got enough money saved up to get a project to start on in September or so - either an older pickup, car, or the Farmall A mentioned below.

Aha! There is a picture of a nice 450 up on the wall above the rack!

All the tractors are in ND. No use for old iron down here in the desert, but might just haul the A down to work on a proper restoration next year. Hauling costs are just so high with $3 fuel!

I did notice the 450 on the wall. You could ride a Farmall across the desert. Would be a great trip. Come to think of it a picture of one in the desert would be nice on that wall.

If I get that A down here to restore I'll drive it out in the desert and snap some pics... :o)
